As a nation of secret splurgers, Kiwis were surprised to discover what they prioritise when it comes to budgets and saving. Haier, the world’s leading whiteware appliance company, gave us a glimpse of our spending anatomy in their ‘Guide to a Haier Life’ survey which aimed to uncover tips from the smartest spenders around the country, while exposing the areas that people splash out on (fashion items taking the top spot).
Hundreds of Kiwis were asked questions about their spending habits with the key outcome of the campaign positioning Haier products as a smart option for savvy singles and young couples on a budget, dismantling the misconception that major appliances are financially out of reach for under 30’s. With a bit of smart budgeting and strategic shopping, the ‘good life’ can be a reality.
Packaged up and tailored to specific media, including food, lifestyle and mainstream news, ‘Guide to a Haier Life’ findings reached thousands of Kiwis through editorial coverage in mainstream media, including the homepage as an ‘editor’s pick’, a full page spread in New Zealand’s most popular woman’s magazine - Woman’s Day, and in numerous regional newspapers and lifestyle magazines.
